Louisville legend and former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch is joining the Cardinals staff as wide receivers coach, 247Sports' Matt Zenitz confirmed. Branch has been with the program in an off-field capacity for the past three seasons and will take over the role from Garrick McGee.

Deion Branch returned to his alma mater, the Louisville Cardinals, in 2022 as the director of player development. Now, he is moving to an on-field coaching role. Deion Branch Becomes WRs Coach at Louisville Branch played 12 NFL seasons,

“Louisville is expected to hire Deion Branch as wide receivers coach, a source tells @CBSSports/@247Sports,” Matt Zenitz said in a post. “The ex-Louisville and NFL star receiver had been on the staff as director of player development and alumni relations. Deion Branch, a former Louisville standout who has served as the Cardinals' Director of Player Development & Alumni Relations since 2021, has been named the program's next wide receivers coach, a source tells Louisville Cardinals On SI and was first reported by 247Sports' Jody Demling.

Louisville football is trying to establish itself as one of the best teams in the ACC. Jeff Brohm, in his two seasons with the Cardinals, has done a remarkable job, going 19-8 with an ACC title appearance and a top-15 finish in his first season.
