On July 25, Happy Gilmore 2 was officially released on Netflix after much anticipation. Nearly 30 years after the original Happy Gilmore movie, Adam Sandler again starred in this sequel. It had cameos from plenty of big names,

“Happy Gilmore 2” launched on the streamer on July 25. For the week of July 21 through 27, the film generated 46.7 million views, with a view defined as total hours watched divided by the total runtime. That makes this start the biggest U.S. opening weekend of all time for a Netflix film, as well as the best ever for one of Sandler’s movies.

Sandler and co-writer Tim Herlihy tell The Hollywood Reporter about the response to the film, the possibility of more sequels for the star's movies after the success of this latest Netflix feature: "This throws it open.
