Here's what to know on why Notre Dame football decided to opt out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl vs. against BYU following the Fighting Irish's CFP snub:
Notre Dame, ranked No. 11 in the final CFP rankings, was the first team out of the 12-team field and decided to sit out of bowl season following the CFP snub. Specifically, the Fighting Irish opted out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl and all the fun that comes with it.
There were eight nationally televised bowl games, highlighted by the one that has become the standard-bearer for bowls outside of the College Football Playoff ecosystem: College football’s Orlando-based bowl game took on the Pop-Tarts Bowl label in 2023.
