Apple released the public beta for watchOS 26 last week, a tempting offer for any watch users interested in trying out new features before the general public. But, for most of us, the risks outweigh the reward.

WatchOS 26 brings the Liquid Glass look, helpful Smart Stack hints, and easier Workout app customizations to your Apple Watch. I took the beta for a spin, and here's what I'm liking.

Once you've upgraded to the iOS 26 beta on your iPhone, open the Watch app, scroll down, and tap General, followed by Software Updates. Next, select Beta Updates. On the next screen, tap to the right of "watchOS 26 public beta update." This should place a yellow checkmark next to it.
