A flight instructor who leaped to his death from a small plane mid-lesson had secretly been undergoing psychiatric treatment, his family has revealed.

A plane crashed into several other aircraft after skidding beyond its landing site at an airfield in Fife - sparking a response from armed police.

The student, who had a license but not enough flight hours, was able to land the Cessna 150 alone, according to investigators.
