Former University of Georgia football player Ahkil Crumpton has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of RaceTrac store clerk Elijah Wood.

An Alpharetta man is facing federal wire fraud charges after prosecutors say he swindled real estate investors and University of Georgia football fans out of nearly $1 million.

Ahkil Crumpton was found guilty on all charges in his state trial and had also been convicted in a prior federal trial.

Thursday morning, a judge sentenced Ahkil Crumpton to life without the possibility of parole on the charge of murder in the death of Elijah Wood. He was also sentenced to an additional five years, to be served concurrently with his life sentence.

ATHENS, Clarke County — Two freshman UGA football players were taken into custody on shoplifting charges, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police. Dontrell Glover and Bo Walker were booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail on Friday afternoon. Both athletes are from Georgia.
