PORTLAND (WGME) -- A cold front is set to bring windy conditions to Maine over the next few days. By Thursday, some rain and even possible snow showers in higher elevation spots can't be ruled out. High temperatures on both Wednesday and Thursday will have a hard time getting out of the 50s.
The state needs significant rainfall — at least a foot — before the ground freezes to alleviate the dry conditions that date back to August. Otherwise, the drought likely won't end until the snow melts next spring.
