A snowboarder was buried and killed by an avalanche in the Middle Fork of Mineral Creek drainage west of Silverton. According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, a snowboarder and a back-country skier were in The Nose in the San Juan Mountains when the avalanche occurred.
