Trump on the campaign trail pushed an intense focus on immigration, vowing to upend the system once again. While the administration has driven border crossings to historically low figures, the number of deportations has fallen well short of the 1 million that Trump set out as the benchmark.
"As the Trump administration escalates its immigration enforcement efforts, 53% of Americans say it is doing 'too much' when it comes to deporting immigrants who are living in the United States illegally," the Pew Research Center revealed this week. "That share is up from 44% in March."
White House border czar Tom Homan said the number of arrests will increase sharply as ICE expands detention capacity with the new funding.
