Sommarøy in Northern Norway is famous for its white-sand beaches and summer island light, but winter brings northern lights, dramatic scenery and a quieter Arctic escape.

As the sargassum washes ashore, some beaches could be inundated with the stinky seaweed, as they have been in years past.
