The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy who was trapped inside a hot car while in the custody of an worker contracted by the Alabama Department of Human Resources,

"The interior temperature of the car where KJ was trapped likely exceeded 150 degrees," an attorney for the family said.

Ketorrius Starkes Jr. was found dead hours after the DHR employee left him in the vehicle on Pine Tree Drive in Birmingham. The child was in the agency's care for a supervised visitation when the incident occurred.
