Sir Keir Starmer is set to recall ministers from their summer break to discuss Gaza after he meets with Donald Trump on Monday. The Prime Minister is expected to hold an emergency Cabinet meeting this week as the pressure from his party - and outside - mounts to recognise a Palestinian state.

K eir Starmer is expected to press Donald Trump on the revival of ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas as the UK joins efforts to airdrop aid into Gaza. The Prime Minister will travel to meet the US president during his five-day visit to Scotland amid mounting global anger over the humanitarian conditions in the war-torn enclave.

Keir Starmer is to urge Donald Trump to back the UK’s peace plan for the Middle East, including demands for unrestricted aid into Gaza and an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. During talks at the US president’s Turnberry golf resort in Ayrshire, the Prime Minister will also press for the release of the remaining Israeli hostages.
