Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi earlier than scheduled from his Saudi Arabia visit following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Narendra Modi has cut short his third official visit to Saudi Arabia, landing in New Delhi on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday afternoon, more than 20 people were feared dead after a group of over 10 militants opened fire at tourists in a meadow in the Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir.

As the first Indian prime minister in over four decades to visit Jeddah, the commercial capital of Saudi Arabia and the gateway to Islam's holiest sites, Modi's visit goes far beyond symbolic gestures.
