Six minutes into the third, T.J. Hughes scored another power play goal to put the Wolverines up 5-2. Notre Dame’s Danny Nelson added a goal in the game’s closing minutes to make it 5-3, and Michigan started the weekend with a convincing win.

Michigan completed the series sweep with a 2-1 overtime win over Notre Dame on a goal from sophomore forward Will Horcoff.

No. 2 Michigan completed a weekend sweep over Notre Dame with a 2-1 overtime victory on Saturday at Yost Ice Arena.

When asked about potentially playing one another, it was energizing to hear both the Michigan and Notre Dame sides wanting to meet on the field again soon.

Notre Dame football has more than a few historic rivalries, and one of them, Michigan, could move up the date to play earlier than expected.

Over the last week, Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman and Michigan coach Sherrone Moore have both come out in support of the playing one another on regular basis. There is a future home-and-home on the books for the Irish and Wolverines, but that's not until 2033 and 2024.

The first game of the weekend saw the Wolverines jump out to a 4-0 lead, thanks to a pair of goals from Will Horcoff. Though the Fighting Irish tried to make things interesting later in the game, Michigan was able to batten down the hatches and hang on for a 5-3 win.
