In 1962, President John Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week of May 15th as National Police Week. This was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962 as a way to honor America's law enforcement community with a special recognition of those law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during the previous year. Our city, county, and state all conduct memorials in conjunction with these national events. Unfortunately, this
