That dream faded fast. The lone prospector became a relic as a new kind of enterprise took hold, powered by huge investment and corporate

On October 13, 1849, the California Constitution was approved and signed at Colton Hall in Monterey, ending the Constitutional Convention. The convention also adopted on this day a “Great Seal of the State of California” and “Eureka” (Greek for “I found it”) was decided as the future state’s motto. The original seal is very similar to the one today. Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, is the most prominent feature on the seal overlooking a scene which includes a grizzly bear (later the officia

myartva on Instagram: "On December 22, 1849, Fyodor Dostoevsky stood in front of a firing squad. He had been arrested for his political writings and sentenced to death by the Russian government. Dom & Álvaro on Instagram: "✨ITS A MYTH!✨ The stories that your/our lolos and lolas told us that we have a Spanish greatgrandparent is NOT TRUE! 😱🇵🇭🇪🇸 The majority of Filipinos do not have Spanish blood.
