Learning to teach Sophia in a way she understands has been a process! She can’t tell me what she knows so she shows me instead. She’s “supposed to be behind” cognitively and yet here we are working on basic addition and subtraction as a kindergartener. As our neurologist once said, “She’s the smartest kid I know with Myotonic Dystrophy.” I love this girl with my entire being and watching her grow into the smart, silly, sassy, and sweet girl God created her to be is such a gift! | Joel and Sophia
