Paramount has been trying to make a fourth film since the release of Star Trek: Beyond in 2016, but has had little success in getting the project off the ground. Still, after Skydance Media's acquisition of Paramount, a change is underway. Variety reports the studio has moved on from bringing back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and
