Lauren Nicklinson's dad, Tony Nicklinson, suffered from Locked-in Syndrome, and was paralysed from the neck down. He described his life as a 'living nightmare'. He wanted the right to an assisted death, but it remains a crime in the UK. He received letters telling him to 'burn in hell'. He took his case to the High Court, which ruled against him in 2012. He died two weeks later of pneumonia
